Heat pumps – These are efficient devices used to transfer heat from one place to another using a minimum amount of energy. The principle of operation of heat pumps
Heat pumps work like a reflux condenser. They consist of four main components: an evaporator, a compressor, a condenser, and an expansion valve. They use a working substance (usually freon or other organic compounds) that circulates through the system and changes its state from liquid to gas and back.
1. Evaporator: ЗHere the working substance absorbs heat from the environment (air, water or soil) and turns from a liquid state to a gaseous state.
2. Compressor: The gaseous substance is compressed, increasing its temperature and pressure.
3. Capacitor: At elevated temperatures, the gas gives off heat and condenses back into liquid, transferring heat to the heating or hot water supply system.
4. Expansion valve device: Here the pressure is released and the process starts again.
Heat pumps are widely used:
– Heating of premises: They are used to heat residential buildings, offices and industrial facilities. They are especially effective in regions with a moderate climate.
– Cooling of premises: Heat pumps can also operate in air conditioning mode, removing heat from the room and cooling it.
– Hot water supply: They can provide hot water for domestic use.
– Industrial applications: In industry they are used to regulate temperature during production and to maintain certain conditions in production areas.
